The Minami Takahashi graduation story has some new details. She will graduate from AKB48 after the group’s concert at the AKB48 Theater. The date of that concert is March 28, 2016. But the venue has not been determined yet. The concert will be held on March 26 and 27. Takahashi had announced in December 2014 that she would graduate from AKB48 in December 2015. She will end all AKB48 activities next month and begin her solo work in 2016. Takahashi mentioned that she had asked the staff when the date would be officially decided. She apologized that the announcement came so late. Takahashi also said that the date has been chosen but the venue for the concert has not been decided yet. Minami Takahashi is the next high-ranking Japanese idol to get ready to graduate since Yuko Oshima in June 2014.
Takahashi will be the center for AKB48’s 42nd single which now has a title. The title of that single is Kuchibiru ni Be My Baby. But for those of you that would prefer a flashback to Takahashi’s earlier days, here is her solo single called Jane Doe:
I had written about Takahashi back in February 2015 to pay tribute to her for all the work that she has done. Takahashi has released a solo single called Jane Doe. She has also served as the captain for Team A and been General Manager. It was Takahashi who told an audience of 25,000 people that AKB48 is not the only goal in life. She made those remarks at the Saitama Super Arena in March 2012 when Atsuko Maeda announced that she was graduating from AKB48. I have said before that she will be handing over the duty of General Manager to Yui Yokoyama. Congratulations to Minami Takahashi of Tokyo as she gets ready to start the next phase of her career. All AKB48 fans will miss you! Note: it is now June 2016 and the Minami Takahashi graduation has taken place.
