It seems that everyone is getting the flu these days. Japanese singer and former member of Morning Musume Aika Mitsui has caught the flu. Reports are that the singer fell ill on January 17 and then she went to get a medical examination where she was diagnosed with the flu. Because of the flu, she will be forced to miss the big concert event called “Hello! Project Tanjou 15 Shunen Kinen Live 2013 Fuyu” which will take place on the 19th and 20th in Nagoya. Former Hello! Project member and supermodel Mai Satoda also attended this big event but appeared as a guest on January 2. The 20 year-old Aika Mitsui who recently celebrated her birthday made news a few years ago when she was at a publicity event with the cute Risa Niigaki who was the band leader of Morning Musume before her graduation from the group last May and that would be May 18, 2012. The photo of Aika Mitsui is from http://www.hellproject.com/images/Mitsui_Aika. Note: that link is no longer active. Mitsui did a solo version of the single Kimagure Princess.
Aika Mitsui joined Morning Musume as part of the group’s 8th generation back on December 10, 2006. It was shortly after that on January 25, 2007 that she made her live debut at the 2007 winter concert tour for Hello! Project. Due to health concerns because of a stress fracture in her ankle that she suffered, she decided to leave the group along with the cute Risa Niigaki. And thus, she became the first Morning Musume member to leave from the group because of injuries. One interesting fact about Aika is that her grandmother decided to name her. Aika now lives with her older sister in Tokyo. She considers the recently graduated Reina Tanaka to be like an older sister to her. Well, now Aika is fully healed as of this writing and she can now resume her regular work schedule. Morning Musume began as a group back in 1997 with members such as Yuko Nakazawa who is nearing middle age.
