It was reported last October that popular all-girl group AKB48 hit an impressive milestone in terms of sales for their 28th single titled “UZA.” They have reached an even more impressive milestone now. Their latest single “Sayonara Crawl” has sold a total of 1, 450, 881 copies for the first day of its release. The previous record for the number of copies of their single sold in the first day belonged to “Manatsu no Sounds Good” which sold 1, 170,554 copies in its first day of release. It was reported back in March 2013 that AKB48 had sold 20 million of their singles to date. Congratulations to this group of talented singers! Here is a short video clip of the song Sayonara Crawl.
There are a few different covers for this single. They feature various AKB48 members having fun in their bikinis and surrounded by flowers. The image of this cover is from http://beautifulsonglyrics.blogspot.com. It is taken from the AKB48 Flash Magazine. Sayonara Crawl means goodbye crawl in English. Sayonara Crawl was a historic single for AKB48 because it had four members that served as center. These were Mayu Watanabe, Tomomi Itano, Yuko Oshima, and Haruka Shimazaki.
What Happened after the success of Sayonara Crawl?
Following the massive success of the single, AKB48 would release the single Koi Suru Fortune Cookie. That song is on the commercially successful album Tsugi no Ashiato. The album was so successful that it showed that AKB48 could keep its status as Japan’s premiere girl group. Tomomi Itano would graduate in the summer of 2013 and Yuko Oshima would graduate one year later in 2014 after the 37th single Senbatsu Elections.
