Nippon Budokan? What is the significance of that venue? It is where Risa Niigaki had her graduation concert back in 2012. But now it is going to be important for another reason.

It has been announced that idol group Morning Musume 15 have added two new shows to their fall concert tour. They will end this tour at the venue Nippon Budokan. The group will sing at the venue on December 7-8 2015. This announcement was made by band leader Mizuki Fukumura at Kawasaki CLUB CITTA. The group was holding a release event for their latest single “Oh My Wish / Sukatto My Heart /Imasugu Tobikomo Yuuki.” Fukumura expressed that the girls are honored to be performing at Nippon Budokan for two days. She also said that all 13 members of Morning Musume 15 “will become one” and do their best. She encouraged fans to come to the shows and cheer them on. Nippon Budokan is the same venue that Risa Niigaki held her graduation concert before graduating in May 2012. And for those of you that did not watch the video for the song Oh My Wish in the earlier post, here is your chance to listen to the song once again.
Morning Musume 15 started under this name in 2015. The group was under the name of Morning Musume 14 in 2014. They introduced the 12th generation of members. Morning Musume 14 had four new members join. I have written earlier that Morning Musume’s influence has extended to the United States. The group has become a sort of pop cultural icon, establishing themselves as a major pop music group along with AKB48, C-ute, and S/Mileage. Morning Musume 15 is also supposed to present an image of being cute. The members of the group hold theatrical performances, sing on stage and attend handshake events. It is at these events where fans can meet the members. Morning Musume has had many members or idols sing in the group and then graduate from the group. One such person is Japanese idol Kei Yasuda who was part of the group’s second generation. Another example of a Japanese idol singer that sang for the group is the lovely Makoto Ogawa. Ogawa retired from the entertainment industry in March 2015. There have also been groups like Morning Musume such as the Hello! Project group Country Musume (now called Country Girls). Country Musume is a separate group which had Rika Ishikawa from 2001 through 2003. The group also had members such as Rinne Toda and Asami Kimura. Morning Musume had only one member win the audition for its 11th generation. That member is Sakura Oda.
Morning Musume (Morning Girls) formed as a group back in 1997 under the direction and influence of TSUNKU. The group had five members as part of their first generation. The first Morning Musume band leader was Yuko Nakazawa. Nakazawa, now 42, has displayed her sexy bikini body for magazines. The other four members of that first generation were Aya Ishiguro, Kaori Iida, Asuka Fukuda, and Natsumi Abe. Abe became famous for her photo book releases particularly for her 2012 photo book called SUBWAY. SUBWAY was done in New York City. Congratulations to Morning Musume 15 for getting the chance to sing in such a famous venue! I know that Risa Niigaki would be really proud of all of you!
