Maidreamin. That’s one of the more unusual band names that I’ve certainly heard of. Maidreamin is a Japanese idol group consisting of members or maids that sing Japanese pop music. Their musical style is like AKB48. This is also the name of a cafe founded in Akihabara back in 2008. There are 17 different locations that have over 400 servants or maids from Japan and other countries in the world. However, Maidreamin is not an idol group in the traditional sense. Their members sing songs while primarily working as maids or servers.

In 2016, three of the most loved and awarded maids made their appearance at the Anime Expo of Los Angeles as guests of honor. The Los Angeles Anime Expo is the top anime and Japanese cultural event in the United States. There were three maids Mariru, Hinata, and Ayame at the event. They performed as “maidreamin Special Unit: 003” providing a very enjoyable time for fans and giving instructions to newcomers about the traditions and the excitement of maid cafe culture at the AX Maid Café. However, the place was so packed with people who it sold out on the first day! Those who attended the event had the chance to experience authentic maid cafe performances. The maids spoke in English to the customers.

Maidreamin also sang some songs at the AX2016 opening ceremony stage in front of the audience. Crunchyroll, a streaming anime service invited the maids to their stage on the second day of the event. There was a record set for the fans in attendance at the booth during the convention.

Maidreamin is welcoming to fans from all countries of the world to their cafes in Japan. They have a goal of spreading their positive messages in Japanese and English. As of this writing, Maidreamin has over 15,000 fans on Twitter and over 60,000 fans on Facebook! They sure know how to attract fans. That’s called effective marketing! When you can spread positive messages through the power of the spoken word, your energy can resonate with the audience. All we need is positivity and love right?

Peace, Inata, and Iroha, three of the top maids made a special appearance at Dubai’s Middle East Film and Comicon held on April 6-8 2017 in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

This was a sort of return trip for Peace and Hinata who had been to Abu Dhabi for an anime event in October 2016. They performed a music show and took the time to sign fans autographs for their music CD called Dream Collection. The CD has their singles Yume no Kumatan, Suki Daekedo, and Dreamin Passport 10th Anniversary version. Hinata called the UAE a beautiful country. The set list for the event in Dubai was as follows:

Set List
1. Dreamin Passport
MC – Self-Introductions
2. Yume no Kumatan
3. You’re My Shooting Star
4. You May Dreamin (New Version)
MC – Wotagei Demonstration
5. Dreamin Passport (encore version)
