Japanese idol Aki Takajo turned 26 years old yesterday and that’s why it is time for another tribute to one of my favorite AKB48 members!
Japanese idol Aki Takajo of AKB48 and JKT48 (2008-2016)
I wrote about Takajo when she turned 25 years old last year. Takajo who became a member of AKB48 in April 2008 as part of their 6th generation, was seen in a commercial for the flavored drink Pocari Sweat with Haruka Nakagawa. After that, she would transfer to idol group JKT48 with Nakagawa. That happened in August 2012 when Takajo became a member of what is known as Team Kaigai. Team Kaigai is a special team of AKB48 for girls that are part of a study abroad program. These girls are either temporary or permanent members of an AKB48 “sister” group such as NMB48, HKT48, or JKT48. Note: I know that I had mentioned I would post something about NMB48 after my last post but since it was Takajo’s birthday yesterday, that event should be written about first. Takajo was born in 1991, the same year as Yuki Kashiwagi (Yukirin), Tomomi Itano, Rie Kitahara, and Minami Takahashi also known in Japan as “Takamina.” Takajo was a decent Japanese idol, ranking somewhere between 13 to 20 and low 30’s for rankings during the AKB48 General Elections. In the 7th such election (her last), Takajo was ranked at #30. I guess she just wasn’t as popular with the fans compared to Mayuyu (the nickname of Mayu Watanabe). But that’s fine because I really like Takajo!
What some fans of the genre may have overlooked is that Takajo has also done work as a gravure idol appearing in such magazines as French Kiss Magazine or Big Comic Spirits Magazine. That photo session in Big Comic Spirits Magazine is probably my favorite photo session to feature Japanese idol Aki Takajo. That photo session has Takajo posing as a lifeguard, relaxing in her hotel room or posing in a blue bikini as she walks in the pool! Takajo is a Japanese idol that was seen in a video swimming entire laps in a pool back in 2011! Happy birthday Aki!
